New upcoming title: untitled title from Fantasia FAN

Bill Kotsias of Fantasia FAN has spoken out on comp.sys.acorn.games about their latest game! A name has not been mentioned at the moment but this is what he said:

"Our game is a quite original concept, it is the 3D version of a very popular action-puzzle game with lots of new stuff that would not be possible in the 2D version.

We are collaborating with a software house to release the game on both RISC OS and Windows platforms."

A website is currently not available but hopefully will be soon, and the price will be in the low-to-medium range. A double-format CD might also be on the cards and should be available for gamers to buy for their ARM6 or better Acorn sometime in the Autumn!

Sword Clash

Blasts of the Xtreme have announced Sword Clash, an adventure game for RISC OS set in Wales in the 13th century.

Sword Clash features its own in game music, plus extensive use of high resolution graphics.

Sword Clash, unlike a lot of interactive fiction games, doesn't require you to type on the keyboard at all! All options are displayed in front of you and are only a mouse click away, so the game is ideal for all ages.

Sword Clash does not require you to sit at the computer for several hours and is ideal for those coffee-break moments. There's a simple, easy to use save game option so you don't have to lose your position in the game.

Sword Clash is the first in the BOTX Budget Range of games, and only costs five pounds (six pounds for postal orders).

Order your copy by emailing cheatwarrior@gamebox.net - paypal or cheque are accepted.

Sword Clash is suitable for all RISC OS 3 and 4 systems with 8MB or more RAM, and is supplied on CD in a full size plastic case (it can also be installed onto your hard disk).  A StrongARM Risc PC with 2MB VRAM, and 11.5MB free hard disk space, is recommended to get the most out of Sword Clash.

New Meteors version with RISC OS 4+2

The newly released variant of RISC OS Select (Select 4 release 2) is said to include a version of !Meteors that supports hardware acceleration!  We here at AcornGamez don't have access to this version of Select, but it's speculated that the hardware acceleration might be for ViewFinder equipped computers.  The release is not compatible with modern RISC OS computers like the Iyonix, Omega, or A9home, however Drobe Launchpad have also shown the new version of Meteors running on the A9home - it seems that some of the included software will work even if the operating system itself doesn't.

!Meteors was the highly addictive desktop game released as part of the RiscPC bundle, resembling the crazier, more psychedelic and much noisier Spheres of Chaos in some aspects of gameplay. It was authored by Neil Raine, who also wrote Hopper and Planetoids, and tragically died in a hang-gliding accident in Spain last year.

It's great to see another old but popular RISC OS game get an update and maybe a new lease of life on older hardware.
